ManchVegas Roller Girls bring a little bit of the Big Easy to the Black Brimmer
by Osteo Ferocious
The ManchVegas Roller girls were out in full force on Friday 2/8/08 at Manchester’s Black Brimmer, spreading the word about New Hampshire’s newest addition to competitive woman’s sports, Roller Derby! Members of the Manchvegas Roller Girls were on hand to meet and greet patrons of the Black Brimmer with festive Mardi Gras beads during a recent fundraiser for the League. Launched in 2007, by Managing partners, Donna (Justice Crone) Chagnon and Victoria (WESM) Gailinas, the objective of the League is the empowerment of women; in the way of teaching women how to start, develop, maintain and expand a small business at a grass roots level.
The ManchVegas Roller Girls is part of a growing movement of all women roller derby skating leagues cropping up all over the country. Leagues are made up of women of all ages, backgrounds and athletic skills. Practices are scheduled to begin mid March and recruitment meetings will be held on 2/24 at Murphy’s Taproom and 3/9.
Look for the ManchVegas Roller Girls at the Manchester St. Patty’s day parade being held March 30, in beautiful downtown Manchester. Immediately after the parade league members will be at Murphy’s Tap Room to talk to anyone interested in joining Manchester’s hottest new woman’s sport.
