Yeah, I don't use them to stop, either, but I noticed at the derby in Wilmington some girls (jammers) use the stoppers to get a sort of running start. One girl had an interesting stopping technique where she would turn backwards, then abruptly stand on her toe stops, and stop on a dime.

In the meantime, use band-aids and ace bandages to to cover the trouble spots and minimize the break-in period.

There are also small pads you can use to attach to the inde of your boots. Look for those things at the cobbler shop or shoe stores.

At CVS I found "Moleskin Plus padding" it is soft cloth with an adhesive backing. You cut out whatever size and shape you need, and stick it right onto your foot. It stayed on for my whole practice. I will try putting some on the offending area of the skate.

i used to spin around and stop backwards on a dime. Also, with a little bit of Jam skating and Freestyle skating, I have used them for jumping, turning, skipping, hopping, running, etc. It's just the general drag and stop that I don't use them for. In Artistic, I had plugs, not toe stops.

How did the gym socks work out? You may need to start using bandaids and ace bandages to help with the breaking in process

I skated for about 2 hours last weekend and my skates felt fine. The next day the back of my right ankle felt a little bruised and swollen? What could that be? Should i do something special when i am skating?
